We understand how important your wedding day is to you and how important your wedding photography is and will be in years to come. That’s why Classical Portraits has created this web site guide of information for you.
It is our hope that you will use it as a tool in choosing a Tulsa wedding photographer. And then as a guide to planning your wedding photography. So that after your wedding, you will have an album of memories that will be as unique and individual as your wedding itself.
Why Choose a Professional Tulsa Wedding Photographer?
Two things you want to be sure of on your wedding day. A beautiful, unforgettable service and photography that will capture the way you looked and felt.
With a professional Tulsa wedding photographer you can expect beautiful photographs, done as unobtrusive as possible, and still have all the photographs you had planned on together. That way, you can relax and enjoy your wedding.
When to Choose a Professional Tulsa wedding Wedding Photographer
The time to think about a wedding photographer is as soon as you get engaged.
Good photographers often book as much as a year in advance. You’ll want to make sure that the photographer you prefer is available to photograph your wedding.
How to Find a Professional Tulsa Wedding Photographer
Like a diamond, a marriage is forever. And like your wedding ring, you and your family will treasure your wedding photographs.
Indeed, your wedding album will be passed on to your children and then to their children. So the photographer you select to record the intimate images of this important day in your life must not only be good at his or her craft, but also sensitive to the fact that your wedding photographs will stand as a historical document for your family’s future generation.
This is your wedding. We are there to make you look your best. Without being obtrusive, we want to document the wedding ceremony with artistry and an eye for composition. With so much involved in making your wedding day perfect, it is in your best interest to hire a professional photographer thoroughly familiar with weddings.
More than any one individual, your wedding photographer will be responsible for seeing that the wedding and reception are properly orchestrated.
He or she should be personable and flexible, not demanding that you do things his or her way. Because even the best laid plans sometimes require last-minute “fine tuning”. Your photographer should be able to adapt to any unexpected situation that might arise.
Quality is as important to us as it is to you. Whereas most weekend photographers typically send their film to high-volume photo finishing labs, here at classical portraits we go over every photograph shot making sure that you look your best and then when it is sent to the lab for printing each photograph is individually analyzed before it is printed.
This degree of quality control is rare in the photography profession. We then work with you to assemble your album together making a truly unique wedding album that is just your style.
Before choosing us or any other professional photographer, look around at wedding albums, come and visit our studio, look at our work. Think about how it makes you feel.
If you decide Classical Portraits is the studio you want to capture your wedding then contact us immediately so we can get your special time reserved.
Planning Your Wedding Day
We will arrive one hour before the ceremony and begin by photographing the groom, groomsmen, ushers, siblings, and groom’s parents.
We then will photograph the Bride, both individually and with her attendants in her dressing room.
If you want these pictures done in the auditorium we suggest you start one hour and fifteen minutes before the ceremony so we can get you in and out of that area without your guest seeing you. This takes approximately 20 minutes to do.
Traditionally, the bride’s father, with bridesmaids watching, will place the garter on her leg.
After photographing mom and dad along with siblings we are finished with the pre-ceremony candids.
The Key to The Success of Your Wedding Photos is Being On Time.
Formals
In our experience, we suggest the best time to photograph the formals with wedding party and family members is immediately after the ceremony. Or if you desire, the formals can be taken before the wedding.
Normally, if all of the subjects are present, the necessary poses will be completed in 20 to 25 minutes.
If you go to the reception and return to do your formals you can add another 20 to 25 minutes because of the time it takes to collect the necessary people back into the auditorium.
For the formals, we usually start by photographing the bride and groom with clergy.
The rest of the formals generally are photographed in the following order: Brides parents, grandparents, grooms parents, grandparents, wedding party to include ushers, bride and groom, and bride alone.
(Friends and family members are asked not to bring cameras to the formal photography session)
Reception
As experienced professional Tulsa wedding photographers we can help you determine the best time to cut the cake, toast the bride and groom, etc. When too many guest are on hand to photograph each individually with the bride and groom, we will ask the bride and groom to point out those with whom they especially want to be photographed.
If there is dance music, the bride and groom traditionally have the first dance after the cake is cut. Usually the bride will throw her bouquet and garter just before changing clothes for departure.
The blend of tradition and personal taste combine to make each wedding celebration a unique and joyful experience and we are there with you each step of the way.
The guidelines above describe the most “traditional” of wedding ceremonies. It is our practice, however, to consult with you in order to learn exactly how you want your wedding to be photographed.
The Bridal Portrait
One of the most treasured portraits for which you will pose is your bridal portrait.
As a professional Tulsa wedding photographer, we specialize in portraits that capture the excitement and radiance of the bride to be. Your bridal portrait is a cherished gift for relatives and friends.
We recommend that you schedule your portrait sitting as early as possible when your schedule is less hectic and you can be more focused and relaxed. Then we will have plenty of time to finish your bridal portrait and prepare needed prints for newspapers and for display.
Studio
A bridal portrait session usually will be completed in one hour. A variety of poses are photographed, from straight facials and over the shoulder profiles to full-length portraits, if desired.
Though we will supply a beautiful “generic” bouquet for your portrait, we encourage you to have your florist prepare a duplicate of your intended bridal bouquet, in order to perfectly match your wedding gown.
This can be used as your throw away at the wedding.
Location
Bridal portraits can also be photographed on location by a Tulsa wedding photographer .
If your wedding or reception is situated in a beautiful indoor or outdoor environment, this might be the ideal location for your bridal portrait.
Popular outdoor locations include Woodward Park, The Garden Center, Gilcrease Museum, or on the Greens in downtown Tulsa.
Planning
To look “picture perfect,” plan ahead! The following suggestions will save time and help you look your best for your bridal portrait:
Sitting Fee
If you desire a half-length studio portrait (as most newspapers require), the sitting (or creation) fee is $15. The sitting fee for a full length studio portrait is $25, which includes the half-length pose. A location session is priced at $40. This fee is payable at the time of your appointment with our Tulsa wedding Photographer.
Our Bridal Special $60.00 includes the full length studio portrait session plus an 8 up Folio of 8 – 4 x 5’s, plus 1 5 x 7 for the paper. Regularly $85
Our On Location Bridal Special $80.00 includes full lengths and close ups, plus an 8 up Folio of 8 – 4 x 5’s and 1 – 5 x 7 for the paper. Regularly $100.
Portraits Finishes
Bridal Portraits are viewed in studio on state of the art monitors. This new method of viewing digital images is fast and enables you to know that you have a beautiful portrait to order from.
The Standard
Our natural color portraits are printed using only the highest quality Kodak products. 11 x 14 and larger are mounted on a single weight matboard backing with a luster finish. Portrait retouching is not included in this finish.
The Marquis
The smooth luster or small texture finishes with normal enhancing and corrective art work makes this a great choice for any portrait. In addition your 11 x 14 and larger are mounted on double weight matboard.
The Classic
A rich embossed texture to resemble linen, or canvas, or brush strokes, is used to give your portrait a beautiful depth of surface and color. Special cropping, most retouching, lacquer protection, as well as being bonded to a hard surface to add protection and rigidity are all a part of the classic finish.
This style makes an exquisite portrait available to you. Its beauty and technical excellence will be admired by anyone who has the privilege to view it.
The Rembrant
In the tradition of an old world master piece your portrait is permanently embedded to canvas and is then applied to a stretcher frame or masonite.
Just like an artist’s canvas each thread of the canvas is visible and resembles an old masters painting.
