How to create a perfect portrait of your child.
Don’t stop reading now.. we’re just getting started.. a perfect Tulsa kids photography portrait takes a little planning. Fine portraits captures facial expressions and mood while clothing , and props are secondary and shouldn’t create any distractions. What they are doing at six months they will not be doing at twelve months. We want to capture that pout, the lip hanging down to their chin, or the mischievous look they will give when a bright idea has just popped in. In essence we want to sell the face not the clothes they're wearing.
Suggestion A: A white background will show off skin tones best when white, ivory or pastels are worn. If you bring props be sure to select ones that match clothing color.

• 3 year old girl doing dress up with just a slip, beads, moms high heels, and a hat. Remember all props in white.
Suggestion B: Dark clothing lends itself to dark backgrounds which brings out the cute expressions.

• Boys in suits or dark clothing.
As a background, the outdoors is very busy it is important to choose only one or two theme colors, with your subjects wearing shades of those colors. While blues are excellent all year, white, ivory, khaki, and salmon are great against lush green foliage. Burgundy, brown, tan, and gray are nice late in the season. Avoid all greens, as they clash with Mother Nature.
Suggestion C: Outdoor clothing... Jeans are in, Khakis are in, remember the simplicity of two colors helps to separate you from the scenery.
• Jeans/Overhauls look great in our barn, on the bridge, even on the pier with a fishing pole.
• Khakis with a blue top have a very nice look for outside.
• Outside you can be barefooted and it looks great.
While cute, play clothes detract from your professionally made portraits. Their appeal is usually short lived. It is best to select clothing that will withstand the test of time.

• Light colors are best with light backgrounds and fair complexions.
• Darker colors look better with deep backgrounds and dark hair or complexions.
• Shoes and socks should be in key.
